Paul M. Nettles, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, May 11, 2018. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at First Christian Church with Rev. Barry Loving officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Paul was born September 16, 1928, in Meadow, Texas to Eugene and Maggie Culwell Nettles. He graduated from Meadow High School in 1946 and Texas Tech University in 1951. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Joyce Cobb of Amarillo on May 30, 1957. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2001. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nell Moreland and husband J.D. Moreland. Paul was employed by Magnolia Petroleum Company, Mobil Oil Company, and Diamond Shamrock Oil & Gas Company from which he retired. He had been a member of the Panhandle Landmen’s Association, and the American Right of Way Association. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church and U&I Sunday school class. He held various positions in the church including trustee, elder, deacon, and department chairman. Survivors include a nephew, Gerald Moreland and wife Myrna of Lubbock; great-nephew, Gregg Moreland and wife Gerrie, and their children, Kolt, and Kelsey Sanderson and husband, James, and their son, Slate, all of Lamesa; and great-niece, Michelle Bartlett and husband Bart, and their children, Nicole and Alyssa, all of Amarillo.
