Those interested in planting, growing and maintaining fruit or pecan trees in the Central Texas area should attend the Fruit and Nut Tree Planting and Pruning Workshop Feb. 5 in Georgetown, program coordinators said.

The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. in the training room of the AgriLife Extension office for Williamson County, 3151 SE Inner Loop.

Registration is $15, and lunch will be provided for an additional $10.

Dr. Larry Stein, AgriLife Extension horticulturist, Uvalde, will kick off the program with a presentation on promising varieties of pecans and fruit trees for Williamson County. He will also address proper tree planting and management.

After the classroom portion of the program, participants will travel to Berry Springs Park and Preserve, 1801 County Road 152, to learn more about tree planting and get hands-on experience with planting and pruning young trees.
