Pole arms repaired and power restored

It did not take long for the City of Brownfield Power and Utility Department to have the power back on in the Southeast portion of Brownfield on Thursday morning, June 10.

Workers began work on the poles around 8 a.m. and started their morning with a prayer together for safety for the crew. A tough job was definitely ahead of them.

They were expecting at least a two hour outage. Power was restored right around 9:30 a.m.

The work was pretty difficult and required just the right touch. Our guys worked hard and worked together and got the cross arm replaced on a pole in the alley between Lons and Reppto on Cedar Street.

All three buckets were utilized to make it all work, as well as the ground crew gathering parts and helping from below. The guys looked like a well oiled machine as they made quick work of the repair.

Traffic was blocked on Cedar between Lons and Reppto for the duration.

City Power and Utility Superintendent Cat Gonzales stated, “I would like to say thank you to my brothers. Because we are a family. I am very blessed to have these men be a part of our crew. Together, we work hard, safe, and efficiently. Again thank you for all your dedication to our crew and city.”
