Power Lifting Teams Compete in First Meet


The Mustangs and Fillies Powerlifting team competed at their first meet of the year in Snyder on Thursday, January 12, with several individuals coming home with meet medals.

On the girls side of things Grayce Riley finished 1st in her division, Caitlynn Durham finished 3rd, Tori Garcia finished 4th, and Angie Ontiveros finished 5th. They all received medals because of their high finish.

The boys finished 2nd overall at the meet with Alexis Gonzales finishing 1st in his division, Abel Burciaga also had a 1st finish, Taylor Hobbs was 2nd, Adam Velasco finished 4th, Alexis Mendoza came home with a 4th place medal, Alex Lozano also finished 4th in his division, Aaron Mendoza was 5th, Ivan Valverde was also 5th, as well as Damian Pena who also finished 5th. They all also were awarded with medals.

Luis Aguirre also competed and had a top 10 finish in his division.

“This was a great first meet for Denver City and everyone competed well,” Coach Jarryd Taylor said. “We also had several athletes getting ‘personal bests’.  Give these kids a pat on the back if you see them.”
