Scott Hamm (November 24, 1947 – January 11, 2019)

Graveside services for Scott Hamm, 71, of Wellman will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2019, at the Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Brownfield Funeral Home in Brownfield with Gary Davis officiating.

Scott passed away Friday, January 11, 2019. He was born November 24, 1947, in Brownfield, Texas, to Robert and Mozelle Singleton Hamm. He married the love of his life, Frances Patrice Taylor, on November 25, 1977.

He attended school in Wellman, graduating in 1966 and Texas Tech University, graduating in 1972. Scott served on the Wellman ISD School Board, Terry County Tax Appraisal Board, and the South Plain Underground Water Conservation District. Scott farmed in Terry and Yoakum counties for many years and was one of the founding members of  the Lone Star Gin in Brownfield.

Scott was a loyal friend, great father, dedicated husband, son and brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Hamm, his three children; Shane Hamm and wife Suzanne of San Antonio, Sarah Hamm Farrell and husband Ryan of College Station, and TyScott Hamm and wife Ashley of Lubbock; siblings Karen Fails and husband Leon of El Paso, Steve Hamm and wife Marsha of North Richland Hills, and Kim Kelcy and husband Gordon of Lubbock; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to be made in Scott Hamm’s name to the South Plains Underground Water Conservation District Conservation Education Scholarship Fund, Box 986, Brownfield, TX, 79316.

The family will have visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the Brownfield Funeral Home.
