The Terry County Commissioners Court met on Monday morning August 8, 2022 and was a quick meeting. County Judge J.D. Wagner opened the meeting by showing the commissioners of the trash and dumping that has occurred at the old Mt. Zion Cemetery. A new flag pole and US flag was placed at Mt. Zion Cemetery #1 this past weekend, and Judge Wagner had noticed some illegal dumping at the cemetery. Judge Wagner was very quick at asking the commissioners to find someone to clean up the dumping and trash. According to Judge Wagner there are no suspects at this time.

The Commissioners went on to pay the bills and look at the reports given from each office. The Court all voted in favor of purchasing four new maintainers, one for each precinct. These four maintainers will replace the four oldest ones from each precinct.

The Court was recommended by Lubbock District Extension Administrator Michael Clawson the new Terry County Ag Extension Agent Reid Lovorn. The Terry County office has been without an extension agent since early December 2021 when Geoff Cooper resigned to run in the Terry County Judge primary race. Clawson stated, “I am happy with Reid’s patience through this process and with his patience he show that he want to be here.” The Court unanimously approved Lovorn’s appointment.
