The Lady Cubs look to keep their district season undefeated as they host the Littlefield Lady Cats, who are 4-0 in district, tonight.
There has not been much stopping the Lady Cubs who is now 14-1 on the season, and their lone loss was early on to 5A #2 Amarillo, and tonight’s game against Littlefield could possibly be another night of a powerful performance.
Coach Wyatt and the girls are looking to add to their point average in district which is 77 points a game and they remember the last time they played Littlefield which took place Jan. 31, 2020 losing 43-40. The Lady Cubs want to avenge this loss. This will most likely not be an easy win for the Lady Cubs, however if they will play their best defense they will walk away with another district win.
The Cubs had a nail-biting win on Tuesday when they went into overtime with DC. Tonight’s game could be different. Like the Lady Cubs, Brownfield has some avenging to do after last season’s losses to the Wildcats. The first being 67-27 and then a very narrow win of 50-48.
This season, the Cubs seem to have things going their way, at least in district. The Cubs come into tonight’s game 9-5 overall and 3-0 in district competition. With this game being at home, the Pit will be loud and proud and will contribute to Coach McPherson’s game plan. So look to see the Cubs avenge two losses from last season.
Meadow Lady Broncos
The Meadow Lady Bronco’s powered through a good win on Tuesday evening when they squared up with Dawson. Of course, this is Dawson’s first season to field a team in three seasons, however Meadow will get a chance to be 2-0 in district play this evening when they travel over to Loop.
Loop took a loss from Wellman-Union on Tuesday night 50-25 and Meadow is thirsty to stay ahead in district. Both teams shared wins and losses last season, however Loop lost a couple from graduation. Meadow will take this tonight and be 2-0 in district.
Wellman-Union Lady Cats
The Lady Cats of Wellman-Union had a decent win over Loop Tuesday evening 50-25, making them 1-0 in district. However, tonight’s game they host the #14 Whiteface Antelopes and will have their hands full. Like the Lady Cats, Whiteface is 12-2 overall and 1-0 in district competition after upending Whitharral Tuesday evening 49-19.
WU’s Coach Kidd has been working diligently with his team on defense and hopes to see that work tonight. There is the old saying, “We want the other team to play our game,” and it is tonight’s battle cry for the Lady Cats. If they want to get back to the playoffs and win an outright district title, they will need to beat a tough Whiteface squad. If the score is a low one, then watch the Lady Cats come out on top.
