Terry County Cemetery Board holds quarterly meeting

by admin

The entire Terry County Cemetery Association Board of Directors was present for the second quarterly meeting of the year. Also present was Kevin Pruiett, Sextant of the cemetery, Karen Grigsby, County Treasurer and Rosa Mendez, a visitor.

Minutes were read and the financial report was given. It was reported that the Association operated in the black for this quarter.

There was discussion of the new monuments which will be placed at Terry County, Brownfield and Mt. Zion Cemeteries. These monuments will have the names of those whose loved ones have given a substantial amount in their memory directly to the Association to help with the upkeep of the cemeteries. (For more information on this program, contact the Terry County Cemetery Association.)

Sadler Monument has these monuments ready to inscribe on them.

Also, a monument is being made for the entrance to Mt. Zion Cemetery.

With the recent rains, the equipment at the cemetery is getting plenty of use. Kevin reported the crew is working hard, and are behind because of all the moisture. But they are working as hard as they can.

An individual was in contact with the Board regarding 35 lots owned by her late aunt in the original Brownfield Cemetery. She requested the Association buy back the lots. The Association cannot buy back cemetery lots, but the individual can make copies of the deeds available, and the Association will try to assist her in selling these lots.

Having no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
