The Terry County Commissioners met on Monday morning, September 28 and approved two separate housing plats, both in the Wellman area.
The first one is located on U.S. Highway 62 and Highway 385 and is approximately one and one-half miles south of Wellman, sitting between the highway frontage and County Road 650. This plat will be called Southern Oaks and will consist of 41 lots of 2 acres all the way up to 5 acres.
The second plat will be called the Red Sands Estates and is located on 8th Street just leaving Wellman to the south. This development consists of 9 lots varying in size from 1.5 acres to 3.05 acres.
Both of this plats were approved unanimously by the Commissioners.
The Court also heard the report from the Average Daily Attendance Based Funds for Terry County Schools. This is generated off Public School Land is awarded to each county school each year from the interest earned. The amount is based off each schools’ ADA.
Brownfield ISD received $80,324
Meadow ISD received $14,304
Wellman-Union ISD received $15,404
These amounts were less than half of what the schools received last year, due to low interest rates.
Two applications for Soil Conservation work were approved.
Following other regular routine business, the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting of the Terry County Commissioners Court will take place on Tuesday, October 13 due to the Columbus Day Holiday.
