Among other business of the Terry County Commissioners Court on Monday, September 13 the Commissioners signed an agreement with the South Plains Public Health Department for the next year. SPPHD will be moving into the whole building, now that the Food Stamp office has moved out. SPPHD will be responsible for all the utilities, and maintenance on the building. “This should be a big help to them and could save us a few dollars, as well,” stated Judge Butch Wagner.
The County did agree to join in on an Opioid Litigation with the South Plains Association of Governments. Wagner stated, “Several counties have joined in on this and we may not get anything, but I think it is worth it to go ahead and be a part of it in case there is some distribution.”
Fire Department reports were read from 2020 and the 2021 quarterly reports. Reports showed that January through July of 2021 there were a total of 105 calls, with 68 calls in the City and 37 calls in the County.
The County Attorney’s Office requested a budget amendment which would increase the travel budget due to more required training. This was approved.
