Terry County is finally out of the clutches of drought, according to the latest Texas Drought Monitor.
Rains have fallen very generally over most all the South Plains area, including Terry County. The only areas still showing abnormally dry or way in the northwest Panhandle and in the Southwest area of the High Plains.
Unfortunately, nearly half of the U.S., including New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and California are still showing signs of severe drought.
The U.S. Drought Monitor states that 93% of the land in nine Western states remains in a drought, which is the highest amount of drought land in this century.
