Terry Lee Mirll

Brownfield- Terry Lee Mirll, 59, of Midwest City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born November 8, 1959, in Brownfield, to Alvin and Carol Ann Mirll, and was the younger of two children. Officially baptized in both the Nazarene and Baptist Churches, Terry had a very strong faith in God and understood His goodness and righteousness. Terry attended Brownfield High School and later graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, with his Honors Master of Arts in German in 1983. He then moved to Bay City, to teach both German and English in 1984-85 school year. He met the love of his life, Molly Annelle McLeod, that Fall on stage on his 26th birthday, as they both were performing Agathe Christi’s The Mousetrap with members of the Bay City Community Theatre. After the couple married at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, on August 17, 1985, Terry taught at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. He also taught in Childress, before attending Doctoral courses at the University of Texas in Austin, where he earned a J. William Fulbright Scholarship to Vienna, Austria, in 1989-90. After returning to the United States, he taught in Brownsville, and for the Wyndham School System in Cuero, where he became a Member at Large of the Lions Club. He then began a 19-year career working as a Civilian for the Air Force, first at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, and then at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, City. Terry played the mandolin and several other instruments, while also being a published novelist and nationally award-winning Science Fiction writer. Terry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Molly McLeod; children, Jeanette Mirll, Teresa Mirll and Daphne Mirll and fiance Nathan Kropf; parents, Alvin & Carol Ann Mirll of Brownfield, and brother Lon and Sharon Mirll of Lubbock. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 19, 2018, at Trinity Evangelical Methodist Church at 700 S. 19th St., in Slaton.
