The family of Thomas “Natt” Park will celebrate his life of 91 years with a private family graveside followed by services at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Tahoka. The family will greet guests one hour before and following the service in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Services are under the care of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, Lubbock. He passed on Monday, July 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. On September 20, 1929, Natt was born to E. A. and Edna Mae (Piott) Park in Tahoka, Texas. He married Peggy Pat Sherrod on December 29, 1951, in Tahoka. He graduated from Tahoka High School in 1947 and attended Texas Tech. He started cotton farming in 1949.
As a dryland cotton farmer in Lynn and Terry counties, he loved checking on the crops and seeing what was going on. He loved to hear what you had to say but probably needed you to speak up after losing the majority of his hearing early in life.
Natt served on the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Tahoka for more than 35 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Land Bank. Natt was an active member of the community and a Master Mason of the Tahoka Lodge for 61 years as well as a member of the Scottish Rite. One of his favorite things was catching up with fellow farmers over coffee and playing poker at Fuzzy’s.
Natt discovered computers later in life (preferably Apple products) and riding the treadmill. He enjoyed keeping up with current events near and far, great and small. He spent a great deal of time providing detailed research to his friends and family on things they needed to know, requested or not.
Most importantly Natt deeply loved his family and those friends who were like family. He was always trying to fix it, whatever “it” might be. He was a farmer, professional worrier, friend, and ultimate caretaker and took his jobs very seriously.
Survivors include his wife, Pat; their children, Judy (Randy) Erickson of Tahoka, and Cindy (Trent) Leverett of Lubbock; grandchildren, Curtis (Shayla) Erickson of Lubbock, Celinda (Andy) Moore of Lubbock, and Travis Leverett of Austin; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Landree, and Parker Erickson and Lee Moore; brother E.A. Park of Abilene; nieces, Frances (Claude) Wortham of Lubbock, Melissa Park of Abilene; nephews Allen Park of Longview, and Doug (Beth) Park of Ft. Worth; and cousin Loretta Tekell of Tahoka.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Helen Ellis and Louise Dietrich; nephew Steve and Glenda Ellis; and sister-in-law Nelda Park.
