
Lady Cubs dominate DC

Lady Cubs continue their district domination with a huge win over district rival Denver City, 96-32 in last night’s District 3-3A matchup. The Lady Cubs are now 4-0 in district play.
The Lady Cubs did not miss a beat when it came to this game as five of the players scored in double digits. Gabi Fields led the scoring field with 21points. Tia Johnson was not far behind with 19 points and her sister Deja Johnson had 15 points. Both Dabria Blackwell and Brianne Franco had 12 points.
The Lady Cubs would score an average of 24 points a period to Denver City’s eight points a period. Brownfield ended the first period 21-2, second 43-13, third 71-23, and the final period 96-32. The Lady Cubs will host Littlefield Friday evening Jan. 8, 2021.

Cubs hold to stay undefeated in district

The Cubs also improved their district record to 3-0 with an overtime win against archrival DC. The Cubs would end the first period leading 13-6 with a nice 3 point shot at the buzzer. The Cubs led going into halftime 26-25, however was outscored 19 to 13.
The second half would continue to be an exciting game as the Mustangs led 41-38 going into the fourth period. DC built a small gap in the lead by going on an 8-0 run. However, the last two minutes of the game the Cubs would come alive and begin scoring with Niko Vela scoring the shot that took them into overtime ending regulation play 59-59.
In overtime action the Cubs would score 13 and DC 6 winning in overtime. Three Cubs would finish with double digit scores, Niko Vela led the Cubs with 19 points. Jadon Martinez was not far behind with 18 points and Kyle Suarez had 17 points. The Cubs will host a tough Littlefield squad Friday night Jan. 8, 2021

Meadow & Wellman-Union girls both win
The Meadow Lady Broncos hosted Dawson last night and would come away with a win 46-26 and is now 1-0 in district. Fayth Haile would lead Meadow with 15 points. The Lady Broncos will travel to take on Loop Friday evening Jan. 8, 2021.
The Lady Cats of Wellman-Union also took to the hardwood last night coming away with a win over Loop 50-25. Like Meadow, the Lady Cats are now 1-0 in district action. Sadie Crowley would help the Lady Cats secure a good win by leading the scoring with 16 points. The Lady Cats will host #14 Whiteface Friday night Jan. 8, 2021.
