The family of Vada Beth Mason will celebrate her life of 87 years at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the Monterey Baptist Church. Interment will follow at 4:00 at Terry County Memorial Park Cemetery.  Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Sunday, June 6, 2021.

On March 19, 1934, Lavada Elizabeth was born to James B. and Bertha Nadine (Ethridge) Durham in Clairemont, TX. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1952. On December 28, 1953, Vada Beth married the love of her life, Wendel Mason, at the First Baptist Church in Meadow, Texas. Together, Wendel and Vada started farming in Terry County and Hockley County before making their farm in Cochran County their permanent farming home. They farmed side by side for a combined 44 years. Vada Beth and Wendel enjoyed traveling with friends and family. They also attended many of their grandchildren’s activities.  Vada Beth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton, where she served as a Sunday school director and teacher.  She always worked at VBS, where many children of Morton learned many things about the Bible.  Vada was chairman of the hospitality committee that provided plenty of good food for the membership and other events. After moving to Lubbock in 2004, she became a member of Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock.  Vada Beth also loved attending the Caregivers class in Wolfforth.

Survivors include her children,  Ralph (Donna) Mason, Kathy (Gary) Six, Judy (Kevin) Gholson,  and Brady (Lorissa) Mason; grandchildren, Matt (Jenn) Mason, Mitch (Heather) Mason, Megan (Josh) Hill, Lindsey (Brock) Johns, Dustin (Mackenzie) Six, Christi (Jacob) Flick, Nikki (Luke) Davis, Amber Cowan, and Silas Mason; great-grandchildren, Levi, Wyatt, Denver, Collier, and Shelby Mason, Taydam, Tensly, Tristyn, and Tyler Hill, Sailey Six, Caycen and Rylan Johns, Abbie and Justin Flick, Tessa Perez, and  Kambry Cowan;  and a brother, Jimmy (Jill) Durham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendel Mason; sister, Patty Sue Goldston; and a brother, Donald Durham.
