To: Gravitt Junior High 8th grade Parents and Guardians:
Mrs. King (Gravitt Junior HIgh Counselor), Mrs. Dorsett (DCHS Counselor) and Mrs. Dierschke (DCHS Counselor) will be meeting with all 8th-grade students this week to begin the process of transitioning from middle school to high school. This will involve each student developing a high school 4-year plan also known as a Personal Graduation Plan or PGP. It is important to know that this is a very fluid process. The PGP can change before your student graduates from high school. However, we want our students to begin planning and preparing for their futures by learning more about themselves through the exploration of their strengths, goals, and interests.
We are encouraging all parents of 8-graders to attend the Personal Graduation Plan Meeting
Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. at the Junior High North Gym
- Graduation Requirements: Counselors will give a brief overview of high school graduation requirements and required credits.
- Pathways and Endorsements: Counselors will give a brief overview of pathways. Students and parents will learn more about the endorsement opportunities offered in Denver City ISD and how endorsements correlate with high school coursework.
- Personal Graduation Plans: Parents will be able to ask questions, edit if needed, and sign off on the prepared graduation plan.
