Windy StoryTime at Yoakum County Library in Plains

With the WIND chill mandating coats for spring attire, Yoakum County Library in Plains hosted a wind-themed StoryTime on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Those in attendance were Aspen, Elijah, Tabitha, Selah, Kefira, Gabe, Case, Ariyel, Payton, Moriah, Landon, Epi, Daniel, and John.

The group discussed the weather, counted to twenty-nine, and sang the “Days of the Week” song. The youngsters also practiced their fine motor skills by putting hand motions to “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and scarves to “Wind Is Blowing” and “This Little Wind Blows the Rain.”

The first book shared was “Kite Day,” followed by an interactive activity with crafted dandelions: “Whoosh Went the Wind.” The creative book “Windblown” was shared next, and the colorful “When Spring Comes” finished out the time together. A portion of PBS’s The Cat in the Hat video selection complemented the theme: “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.” And speaking of kites…Kefira Blessing won the kite door prize!

Yoakum County Library in Plains hosts the weekly StoryTime program on Wednesdays at 10 am. It is open to children of all ages and their caregivers.

The annual Easter egg hunt for the group is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12. Attendees need to bring a dozen filled and sealed eggs and are also encouraged to bring a food item for the party. For more information, contact the library at 456-8725.
