Yoakum County Commissioner Courts Meets August 26

The Commissioners Court met in regular session on Monday, August 26, where they addressed their weekly agenda.

Moving into the agenda the Court moved to audit and settle all accounts against the County and direct their payments. After looking over the bills and addressing any concerns a motion was made and unanimously approved to pay County bills that totaled $95,983.38 and Medical facility bills that totaled $87,472.20. Also included in the bill paying was the part-time payroll.

In the first item the Court unanimously approved expenditure of donated funds for the summer reading program from contingency.

Sheriff David Bryant was in attendance to inform the Court he had added a new deputy to his department. The Commissioners unanimously approved the deputation of Victoria Cisneros as a full-time deputy for the Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Bryant also requested the approval of funds from an equipment line item for the purchase of body armor for the new Deputy Victoria Cisneros. Sheriff Bryant informed the Commissioners the body armor was mandated by the Federal Guidelines. The total cost is $1,026.84.

There were no road crossing permit applications, a request for the disposal of several items from various departments in the county, four line item transfers and no Soil Conservation Request.

Commissioners Woody Lindsey, Ray Marion, Tommy Box and Tim Addison along with County Judge Jim Barron were all in attendance.

With next Monday being Labor Day and Courthouse being closed the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at 9:30 am in the County Courthouse. There will be a Public Hearing on Tax Increase before the regular meeting starting at 8:30.
