Christmas Trees at StoryTime!

Yoakum County Library in Plains started off with a host of Christmas trees on Thursday, November 29, 2018. After counting up to the twenty-ninth day, the group sang “Days of the Week” and discussed the country and state flags. The children then grabbed some silver bells from a hat to enhance the book “Jingle Bells,” along with some singing, and to jingle to “Do You Hear the Christmas Bells?”! Those in attendance were Kaylin, Henry, Lena, Benny, Nellie, Avery, Aaron, Margaretha, Reid, Tucker, Knox, Lathe.

Packing the time with a lot of reading, Laura Numeroff’s “If You Take a Mouse to the Movies” started off the literacy time. “Christmas Mice” followed a rhyming activity of “5 Little Candy Canes.” “Snowmen at Christmas” and “Mooseltoe” rounded out the book time.

Following the readings, the youngsters got to decorate their own paper plate Christmas tree craft before helping stuff a mooseltoe moose with cotton batting! “Pluto’s Christmas Tree” was the video selection, and Kaylin Neufeld won the door prize.

Next week, Thursday, December 6, the theme will be “Nativity.” All ages are welcome with their caregivers at 10:30 AM. The following week (Dec. 13) will be the Christmas Hunt around the Square from 10:00-11:15 (please notice a different start time for this event). The group will dismiss until after the school holidays, resuming Thursday, January 10, 2019.
