A service to celebrate the 90 years of life for Dixie Earlene Lepard is scheduled at 10:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Graveside services for the family will follow at 1:00 pm at Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Dixie Earlene Lepard was born October 8, 1932, to Earl and Ollie Brown in Gomez, Texas. She married Leon Lepard on October 19, 1951, in Abilene, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Beverly Morris.
Mrs. Lepard is survived by her sister, Linda (Bill) Adams and brothers Earl Jr. (Eloise) and Dr. Kirk (Ellen) Brown; sons, Richard (Marilyn), Russell (Sharon) and Robert (Kay) Lepard; grandchildren, Randall Lepard, Ashley (Brian) Cawthon, Lindsay (Scott) Newhouse, Landon Lepard, Lauren (Sean) Monroe, Kate (Andrew) Young and Sterling Lepard; great-grandchildren; Austin Newhouse, Brooklyn Lepard, Bristol and Boone Cawthon, Everette and Everly Monroe, Cora and Eliza Young; many nieces and nephews.
Dixie’s adult life began as the wife of a farmer and the mother of 3 active sons. She was an excellent cook and provided her boys 3 meals a day (with dessert) and fed the farm hands while keeping a garden. The second phase of her life began when her children were grown. She had a gift for teaching and helping special needs children and women. She spent many years substituting where there was a need. She enjoyed traveling with Leon in their travel trailer all across the US and in Mexico.
Dixie moved to Lubbock in 1999. She joined Monterey Church of Christ where she met new friends and enjoyed all the activities in her bible class. She continued travels with new friends.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important in her life. She enjoyed making their favorite meals, having them at the farm, and attending any activity they participated in. She was a very proud grandmother.
