Making a Difference

I have been doing a little traveling this week. Finally! I actually left the county for something other than work or sports. I have had a nice time. I took a train ride through the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. It was great. Highly recommend it! As I was looking at the map of the track, I could see that it was winding around and curving and making these big “hairpin turns.” I thought to myself that it seems like it would make more sense just to head straight there, but when the track was being laid over 100 years ago, the path of least resistance made more sense. As it likely still does today!

In our lives, sometimes we would like to just get straight to where we are going, but most often, our lives take many twists and turns. Seldom ever do you get to head straight to where you are going. There are always going to be pitfalls and unplanned turns on the road. This is where God comes in.

God has our lives planned out from day one. I truly believe this. He very well knows all the turns your life will take before you get where you are going. He knows the roadmap for each of us. It makes no sense to attempt to navigate your life without His guidance. In Jeremiah 29:11, He says, “For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

Earlier in Jeremiah, in chapter 1, verse 5, the Lord says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart.” It is very obvious that God has a plan for each of us. Every single one of us. Yes, your life will take twists and turns. Yes, your life will sometimes have very rough times.  And yes, your life will have times of extreme joy and excitement. God knows very well that all these things will happen. He has a plan for every twist and turn.

Just like the men who laid that twisting and turning track for the train I rode, God has laid the path for you. He has an answer for all your questions and He has wisdom and discernment for you for each twist your life takes. His path will make the difference.
