Mildred Inez Day

128246_20160611Mildred Inez Day, age 89, passed from this life on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at her home in Kermit, TX. She was born in Seville, FL on April 18, 1927 to George and Mary (Morrison) Baker.

Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved to square dance with the “Shooting Stars”, enjoyed camping, drawing, painting in pastels, working puzzles, and playing cards and dominoes. Mildred had an extensive collection of pine cones and sea shells gathered over many trips to the mountains and the beach. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Mildred was a hard worker, she helped manage J&M Electronics and Magpegasus Credit Union with her husband Jack. Mildred was a devoted mother and she had a special love for her grand and great-grandchildren. Mildred married Jack Day on May 29, 1950 in Ft. Worth, TX and they celebrated 61 years together before his death in 2012.

She is survived by her sons: Bob Day of Dallas, TX; John Day and wife Pam of Kermit, TX; daughter: Mary Louis and husband Mike of Denver City, TX; five grandchildren: Eric Day, Jennifer Eicher and husband Rick, Larenda Gallardo and husband Omar, Heather Slayton and husband James, and Garrett Louis; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary and Annabelle Eicher, Kohen and Gregory Gallardo, Johnny and Robert Webster, Jax Slayton and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Day; parents: George and Mary Baker; and grandson: Brian Day.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with Pastor Donnie Rollie officiating. Pallbearers will include: John Day, Robert Day, Mike Louis, Eric Day, Rick Eicher, Omar Gallardo, Garrett Louis and James Slayton. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Zachary Eicher, Annabelle Eicher, Kohen Gallardo, Gregory Gallardo, Johnny Webster, Robert Webster, and Jax Slayton. Burial will follow at the Kermit Cemetery.
